The Chief Guest, Shri. Gobind Singh Thakur, inaugurating Tibet Museum’s photo exhibition along with His Eminence Dagpo Rinpoche.
: At the invitation of the Dagpo Shedrubling Monastery, the Tibet Museum showcased a rare photo exhibition on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s life and Tibet’s history during the daylong ceremony organised by the monastery to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 15 September 2015.
Chief guest of the ceremony Shri Gobind Singh Thakur, Member of Himachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly, representing Manali Assembly segment in Kullu District, inaugurated the photo exhibition along with His Eminence Dagpo Rinpoche. Around one thousand people representing the local Indian community, Tibetans as well as disciples from France, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore etc, came to the celebration and visited the photo exhibition.
The two-title exhibition featured themes such as His Holiness’ early life and responsibilities, meetings with world leaders, awards and honors received, books in English authored by His Holiness, His Holiness’ three main commitments and history of Tibet from its first king till the invasion of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China. In order to provide visitors a complete understanding of the Tibet issue, a documentary film on Tibet was screened in the evening.
Other activities during the day-long celebration included a a cake-cutting ceremony, introduction on His Holiness life and messages by His Eminence Dagpo Rinpoche, Speech by Chief guest Shri Gobind Singh Thakur and Kullu Settlement Office Mr. Lhakpa Tsering as well as cultural performances by local Tibetan and Indian schools from the Kullu region.
