Tibet Museum to Showcase Exhibitions in Pathankot and Shillong to Celebrate Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

DHARAMSHALA: The Tibet Museum of Department of Information and International Relations, is slated to showcase Photo exhibition in Shillong, Meghalaya and in an Indian public school in Pathankot, Punjab to celebrate the 81st birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The Tibet Museum, as per the request received from Tibetan Settlement office, Shillong and India-Tibet Coordination office (ITCO), will showcase on 6 July 2016, the exhibition, ‘Biography of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’ at ‘Tibet Festival’ and 81st birthday celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Shillong, Meghalaya.

For an invitation from ‘Partap World School’ in Pathankot, Punjab, the Tibet Museum will showcase exhibition on two themes, namely, ‘Biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’ and ‘India and Tibet, Ancient Ties – Current Bonds’ from 8 – 11 July 2016. ‘Partap World School’ is a boarding cum day school with more than 1200 students from different parts of the country and on 20 May 2016, the school received ‘Excellent Academic Accomplishment Award’ from His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

‘Biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’, an exhibition consisting of around 38 photo panels with textual descriptions in Tibetan, Hindi and English, depicts His Holiness’s life from early childhood to his continuing struggle for the cause of Tibet, world peace and the awards and recognition he has received for his contribution. The second exhibition on Indo-Tibet relations, ‘India and Tibet, Ancient Ties – Current Bonds’, familiarizes with rare photographs and textual explanations, the spiritual, cultural and political relationship that India and Tibet have shared for over thousands of years and how these exchanges have influenced the people of these two civilizations.
