The Tibet Museum Commemorates 87th Birth-Day of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
On 4th July 2022, the Tibet Museum of CTA, DIIR organised a day-long event at Upper TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village), Dharamshala on 4th July 2022 and followed by Lower TCV School on 5th July consecutively to commemorate the 87th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The first-day event was started during the school morning assembly with a welcome note given by Mr. Wangchuk la, Senior section Headmaster, Upper TCV, and later Tenzin Topdhen, Director of the Tibet Museum gave a brief overview of the program.
All the students from the senior section (class VI-XII) and the junior section (class II-V) actively took part in activities including the screening of a short-animated movie ‘In search of the Jewel’ and an exhibition on ‘pictorial biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’.
The exhibition highlighted the following aspects – Early life and responsibilities, meeting with Indian and global leaders, awards and honors conferred, and his four main commitments. whereas the short animated movie is based on how the next incarnation of the Dalai Lama is found.
On the second day, the event started with a welcome note given by Mr. Tsering Kunphel la, School headmaster, and later Mr. Tsering Norbu, the staff of the Tibet Museum gave a brief overview of the program.
and an interactive session with the students initiated by the Tibet Museum staff. After that, the students from class I – V (60 students approx.) actively participated in the screening of a short animated movie and exhibition.
It was a moment of great pleasure to have noticed the curiosity and interest shown by students in both the event; some were even found taking notes of the information that is new to them. Irrespective of the nature of the question, most of the students had approached our staff with queries and doubts they had. Altogether, School administrators, teachers, and students appreciated the initiation and we are truly encouraged to host more programs in the future. Moreover, it is our honor to bring schools closer to museums and introduce interactive learning to the students.
