The Tibet Museum to Celebrate Three-day International Museum Day from 18-20 May 2016

DHARAMSHALA: The Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration, will join museum around the world to celebrate the 39th International Museum Day from 18 – 20 May 2016, at the Tibet Museum, located near Main Temple, McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala.

The three-day long programme will include guided tours of the permanent exhibition “A Long Look Homeward”, live demonstration of thangka (scroll) painting and display, showcase of costumes of the three traditional provinces of Tibet, talk and lecture on Tibet history and culture and all-day documentary film screenings on Tibet.

School children from Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School, Sherab Gatsel Lobling, Lower TCV, Sambhota Tibetan school, Chauntara and Indian government school in Dharamshala will participate in the event.

During the inaugural session, chief guest Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay will release the Tibet Museum’s exhibition catalog – “A Long Look Homeward” and DIIR Secretary Mr Sonam N Dagpo will launch museum’s promotional video. The three-day long event will be concluded with traditional Tibetan dance and gorshey (circle dance) in the evening of 20 May 2016.
