Tibet Museum participates in 6th Annual Designing for Empathy Summit and Workshop in New York

Dharamshala: The Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), participated in the 6th Annual Designing of Empathy Summit and Workshop from 25th to 27th October 2023, in New York.

At the summit, Karma Tashi, a representative of the Tibet Museum, had a great opportunity to talk about the Tibet Museum and the current situation in Tibet with other participants.

The Organization of Network for Empathy (ONE) has organised this summit. It took place at the Rubin Museum of Art, Columbia University, and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York. This year, they have invited multidisciplinary creatives to collectively explore the invisible stories that are often overlooked yet are critical to our understanding of what empathy is, its many nuances, and what it means for our collective future.

A total of 26 speakers from different fields of education, 6 student speakers, and 32 delegates took part in the summit, which provided all the participants with direct engagement in the process of social innovation towards equity, diversity, and social and environmental justice through collaborative work in empathy-building.

Some of the key objectives of the 6th annual Design for Empathy Summit are to develop a nuanced understanding of empathy based on multidisciplinary research, multicultural dialogue, and experiential learning and to explore the ways in which empathy-building can be a tool to develop self-knowledge of our biases and perceptions of others.
