The Tibet Museum and V-TAG conclude State-wide Series of Exhibitions and Human Rights Programs across Himachal Pradesh
Dharamshala, India – The Tibet Museum, in collaboration with the Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (VTAG) Dharamshala and the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD), successfully concluded a three-day series of traveling exhibitions, lectures, and commemorative events across Palampur, Dharamshala, McLeod Ganj, and Suja from December 8-10, 2025. The programs aimed to deepen public understanding of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s life and legacy and highlight the urgent human rights situation inside Tibet.
Exhibition at Sri Sai University, Palampur – December 8
The series commenced at Sri Sai University, where the event was graced by Special Guest, Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Kumar Punj, and Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jahid Ali, and began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Students and faculty explored a comprehensive visual exhibition on the life journey of His Holiness and the Indo-Tibet relationship.
Ms. Phurbu Dolma from TCHRD delivered a compelling address on the continuation of human rights violations inside Tibet.
Exhibition at Central Himachal University, Dharamshala – December 9
At Central University, Dharamshala, the exhibition was opened by Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Dean, Academy, who emphasized His Holiness’s global message of peace and the longstanding India-Tibet friendship. Faculty and students engaged with detailed pictorial panels showcasing the Dalai Lama’s life and the cultural bond between the two nations.
Ms. Tenzin Dawa, Director of TCHRD, presented an incisive lecture on the worsening human rights environment in Tibet.
Special recognition was given to Dr. Amrik Singh Thakur, Centre for the Promotion of Tourism, for facilitating the event.
Human Rights Day Commemoration in McLeod Ganj – December 10
On International Human Rights Day, The Tibet Museum and VTAG organized a solemn commemoration at the Tibetan Settlement Auditorium, McLeod Ganj, marking the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
The program featured the exhibit “Why Tibetans Are Burning”, honoring 157 Tibetan self-immolators and calling attention to Tibet’s urgent human rights crisis.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Venerable Thupten Ngodup (Nechung Kuten Chok), the State Oracle of Tibet. Around 40 participants-including students, teachers, elders, and local residents-attended the event.
The Tibet Museum expressed gratitude to Mr. Tenzin Woeser, Coordinator of VTAG India, for his leadership.
Nobel Peace Prize Anniversary Exhibition at TCV Suja – December 10
In the afternoon, a special exhibition was held at Tibetan Children’s Village School, Suja, commemorating the 36th anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Nobel Peace Prize and the 77th International Human Rights Day.
Approximately 390 students and 20 teachers attended the exhibition. A documentary on His Holiness and the Tibetan struggle had been screened earlier as part of the educational outreach.
Through this multi-location initiative, The Tibet Museum and VTAG strengthened public understanding of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s humanitarian contributions while renewing focus on the ongoing human rights crisis in Tibet. The organizers extend heartfelt appreciation to all participating institutions, speakers, and supporters.
