The Tibet Museum launched a week-long program titled “Mapping Tibet,” (Traveling Exhibition)
As part of its traveling exhibition, the Tibet Museum launched a week-long program titled “Mapping Tibet,” aimed at educating students about the geopolitical events through rare maps of Tibet, narrating unbiased history of Tibet . The exhibition was held in various Tibetan schools around the Kangra District area.
The first leg of the exhibition took place at Upper TCV School on July 2nd. This was followed by a second phase from August 3rd to August 9th, 2024, across three different schools within the Kangra district. On August 3rd and 4th, the “Mapping Tibet” exhibition was showcased to the students and staff of TCV School Gopalpur. The exhibition then moved to Chuantra TCV School on August 5th and 6th, and concluded at TCV School Suja from August 7th to 9th.
The success of the week-long exhibition was largely attributed to the cooperation and dedication of the school staff and prefects, whose efforts were highly appreciated by the Tibet Museum team. Their support played a pivotal role in the seamless execution of the exhibition.
Students from all grade levels attended the exhibition in groups, and the Museum received an overwhelmingly positive response from both students and staff. Many students posed insightful and critical questions about their ancestral connection to the lands depicted on the map, the reasons they can no longer return to their homeland.
Buoyed by the positive feedback, the Tibet Museum is committed to expanding such educational programs to a wider audience in the future.
