The Tibet Museum Showcases an Exhibition on His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Singapore
Singapore: At the invitation of the Singapore Tibetan Buddhist Centre, the Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration, showcased a rare photo exhibition on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s life, during the 81st birthday celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Singapore on 6 July 2016. The birthday celebration organized by the Singapore Tibetan Buddhist Centre, witnessed the participation of around one thousand local Singaporean as well as Tibetans working and studying in Singapore. Consular of Indian High Commission in Singapore and former Ambassador of Singapore to Hong Kong also attended the birthday celebration program.
The chief guest of the event, His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, guided by Mr. Tashi Phuntsok, Director of the Tibet Museum, saw the exhibition and commended the efforts of the organizer and the Tibet Museum for holding the exhibition of its kind first time in Singapore. The photo exhibition organized on the sideline of the 81st birthday celebration at an auditorium in Tanjong Katong Complex drew a large number of visitors.
The photo exhibition titled ‘Biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’ features His Holiness Early Life and Responsibilities, His Holiness’ meeting with Indian Leaders, His Holiness’ meeting with world Leaders, Awards and Honors received by His Holiness, Books in English authored and co-authored by His Holiness and His Holiness’ three main commitments in life.
The day-long program began with the procession of monks and organizers with the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche and Geshe Lobsang Dakpa from Namgyal Monastery along with other Tibetan senior Lamas were invited to join the cake cutting ceremony on the stage while other guest joined in by singing ‘Happy Birthday to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’. A special video message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the devotees from Singapore was also screened during the event. Other program during the event includes religious chant by Namgyal Monastery, Deer dance, Yak dance and group dance by the Tibetans in Singapore.
The Tibet Museum will showcase its next exhibition in Singapore on His Holiness’s life at Poh Ming Tse Temple from July 9 – 10, 2016 and at the Tibetan Buddhist Centre from July 11 – 14, 2016.
