The Tibet Museum’s Travelling Exhibition in Leh, Ladakh

Following our exhibition in Zanskar, The Tibet Museum continued its travelling exhibition, showcasing the Biography of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama across various locations in and around Leh from 26th July to 2nd August 2025.

The exhibition commenced on 26th July at the Chief Representative Office Campus, Choglamsar, Leh, and was inaugurated by Thiksey Rinpoche, along with Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Security Minister Gari Dolma, and DIIR Minister Norzin Dolma.

On 27th July, the exhibition remained at the CRO Campus and was presented to the Czech President, Petr Pavel. We were honoured to guide him through the exhibition, marking a historic moment as this was the Czech President’s first visit to Ladakh.

In the following two and a half days, we collaborated with the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation (LAMO), located just below the historic Leh Palace. The exhibition was visited by residents, tourists, and students from Nubra Valley. Also, a documentary screening on the life of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama was held at Rabsel Hall, followed by an engaging public Q&A session. The event was a great success, receiving enthusiastic responses from attendees.

On the afternoon of 30th July, the exhibition was moved to Leh Main Market, where it drew a wide array of visitors from diverse backgrounds. On 31st July, we partnered with the Ladakh Writers Club for a special event featuring an open reading of Chapter 10 from “Voice for the Voiceless”, a book by His Holiness.

On 1st and 2nd August, the exhibition was installed at the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, where it was warmly received by both students and faculty. On the final day of the 20-day travelling exhibition, we concluded with a documentary screening in the Institute’s auditorium, attended by over 100 students and faculty members.

During the 8-day travelling exhibition in and around Leh, we welcomed over 500 visitors from diverse backgrounds. We were especially honoured to host His Eminence Kabje Thiksey Rinpoche for a guided tour and to receive a historic visit from the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, accompanied by members of the Czech Embassy.
