Traveling exhibition in Goa

To commemorate the 90th birthday of 14th Dalai Lama, the Central Tibetan Administration designated July 6, 2025 – July 5, 2026 as the “Year of Compassion.”

As part of this initiative, the Tibet Museum collaborated with Museum of Goa to present Refuge, Resilience, and Rights: The Tibetan Story under The Infinite Ripple – 90 Years of Compassion. Held from March 1–8, 2026, the exhibition traced the Tibetan journey from exile to the present through historical objects, archival material, and personal narratives, highlighting the preservation of Tibetan culture in displacement.

The exhibition opened with prayers by monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery, followed by remarks from Ms. Sharada Kerkar and Mr. Tenzin Topdhen. Varun Sahni delivered the keynote, emphasizing compassion as action. A guided walkthrough and a live sand mandala underscored themes of impermanence and peace.

Throughout the week, the team engaged visitors through daily walkthroughs and discussions. Programs at Goa University included an exhibition on the life of His Holiness, talks by academic leaders, and a documentary screening. The exhibition concluded with the ceremonial dismantling of the sand mandala and a Black Hat dance by monks from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.

The exhibition welcomed over a thousand visitors, fostering meaningful engagement and reflection on Tibet’s history, culture, and ongoing resilience.

The event was also covered by local news outlets, including Navhind Times, Goa News Link, and The Voice for Goem.
