Traveling Exhibition in Varanasi

An academic and cultural program titled “Talks on Global Perspective on Kailash Mansarovar and India–Tibet Relations” was held on 16 December 2025 at Saint Kabir Prakatya Sthali, Lahartara, Varanasi. The event was jointly organized by the Shivdham Kailash Mansarovar Tibet Freedom Association (SDKMTFA) and the India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), New Delhi. At the organizers’ request, the Tibet Museum, Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration, presented a pictorial traveling exhibition on India-Tibet relations.

The event was graced by the Chief guest Hon’ble Kalon Dolma Gyari, minister of security, Central Tibetan Administration(CTA), along with Dr. R. N. Kharwar; Prof. Vijay Kaul, Director, Centre for Information & Language Engineering, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha; Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh Bablu, President, India Wrestling Association; Smt. Rithika Dubey, State Vice President, Teachers’ Union, Uttar Pradesh; Shri Ambrish Singh Bhola, Member, Varanasi Development Authority; Smt. Pooja Dixit, Director, Arya Mahila P.G. College, Varanasi; Shri Sumit Singh, Adamya, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India; Dr. Dhirendra Kumar Rai, Bhajji Professor, Banaras Hindu University; Prof. Om Prakash Singh, Director, Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya Institute of Hindi Journalism; and Patron of SDKMTFA, Shri Mahant Govind Das Shastri.

 

At the event, Minister of Security Gyari Dolma emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and religious ties between Tibet and India, and highlighted the importance of Mount Kailash not only as a religious site but also for environmental reasons. She also gave a brief overview of the background and work of the Central Tibetan Administration, and explained that non-violence and dialogue are the best solutions to the Sino-Tibetan conflict.

A key highlight was the Tibet Museum’s traveling exhibition, which visually documented the civilizational, cultural, and spiritual ties between India and Tibet. Mr. Tenzin Khetsun, Deputy Director, along with Ms. Dechen Dolkar, guided dignitaries and participants through the exhibition, which was widely appreciated. Traditional Tibetan khata scarves and souvenir publications were presented to the dignitaries as a gesture of goodwill. The programme also included a media interaction with fourteen national and regional outlets, the launch of a signature campaign advocating the liberation of Kailash Mansarovar and Tibet, and a blanket distribution programme under the Year of Compassion.

The event witnessed participation from over 200 attendees, including academicians, students, social workers, and members of the general public. Overall, the programme served as an effective platform for academic exchange, cultural understanding, and public awareness, strengthening the enduring bonds between India and Tibet.
