The Tibet Museum joint through it’s travelling exhibition at the Tibet Awareness Programme Held Jointly by Four Tibetan Settlements of Sirmour District and Indo Tibetan Friendship Society

Paonta: Tibetan Settlements in Sirmour District of Himachal Pradesh, namely Paonta Choesum, Sakya Puruwala, Kham Kathok Sataun, Gapa Tibetan Settlement Kamrao, and the Indo Tibetan Friendship Society of Sirmour District, have jointly organised “The Tibet Awareness Program 2023” at Paonta Sahib’s Municipal ground on 27 March 2023. The event’s main purpose is to spread awareness of Tibet cause to the members of Indo Tibetan Friendship Society, Indian friends and Tibet supporters.

The former Finance Kalon, Karma Yeshi, graced the event as Chief Guest along with the guest of honour, Choekyong Wangchuk, the former Health Kalon. Dr Madan Lal Khurana, President of Indo Tibetan Friendship Society (Sirmour), and Tashi Dickey from the India Tibet Coordination Office attended the awareness programme as special guests. Amongst the invitees, Shri Gita Ram Thakur, General Secretary of Indo Tibetan Friendship Society in Sirmour, was not able to join the event due to some important engagement. 

As part of the programme, the Tibet Museum displayed the pictorial exhibition of India & Tibet under the themed “Ancient Ties and Current Bonds, and Journey into Exile”, while Tibet-related books were also distributed to the public. Similarly, the branch Men-Tsee-Khang in Paonta Sahib opened the clinic for a day and exhibited traditional Tibetan medical and Astro practices. 

As a token of love and respect, the organising committee presented mementoes to the guests and concluded the programme with a vote of thanks to the Government of India in general and Particularly the Himachal Government for unwavering support to Tibetan in exile for several decades.

The Department of Information & International Relations, CTA, funded the programme through ITCO, New Delhi.
